I agree? with most ... I agree? with most of it, my friend, but think about this: english is currently the easyest lenguage arround. I'm not talking abour perfect english, I'm talking about general notions. You can speak and read english in less then a year. I learned all the basic english in two months, and I'm not brilliant with lenguages. therefore, it's like the esperant of theese days.
and USA has to do with it. most webpages are in US english. and the internet was practically developed there.

When the British empire (the largest the world has ever seen) spread across the globe the Lingua Franca changed to English, which it remains to this day. Whist the status of English as Lingua Franca is bolstered? by the US economy at present, it's reasons for useage are nothing to do with USA. It may even change to Chinese in future centuries.
